Breezy Point
Resort was recently voted "Best Lakeside Resort" by the
readers of Minnesota Meeting and Events Magazine.
Minnesota Meeting and Events Magazine is a quarterly
publication which, over the past ten years, is distributed to 20,000
local, regional and national professionals in the meeting and event
planning industry.
The award was presented January 23 at the
International Market Square in Minneapolis.
"We owe it all to our staff - we are very proud
of them and this award," said Bob Spizzo, owner and CEO of Breezy
Point Resort. Pictured here is Bonnie Tweed, director of marketing and
group services, receiving the award on behalf of the resort from Rob
Amundson, associate publisher of Minnesota Meetings and Events
Magazine.
Breezy Point Resort, created by publishing magnate Billy Fawcett in the
early 1920s, has a long tradition of meeting the needs of Minnesota's vacationing
families and meeting groups. Its amenities include two 18-hole golf
courses, tennis courts, sandy beaches, two indoor pools with kiddie pools, children's
activity programs, game rooms, and plenty of good, healthy food.
To say nothing about great fishing on beautiful Pelican Lake, one of the
best-known lakes in the state.
In recent years, the resort has been in a fast-growth phase, expanding
accommodations and amenities through its Whitebirch, Inc. parent company to meet the
demands for upscale vacation ownership. A 120 room hotel is nearing
completion. Opened in April 2000 is a new Ice
Arena.
"Traditions are created here every day," says Dave
Gravdahl, the resort's long-time general manager, who oversees a staff of about 400 people
during the peak of the summer season.
"Breezy has long been considered a great place for a Minnesota
gathering," he says. "And it only gets better with age.
